Worship Team

Mission
We exist to minister to the church, share the good news of the Gospel to non-believers regardless of their language or ethnicity, and nurture our fellowship of believers through intercultural worship. We are a community of believers who utilise the musical and linguistic talents of our members to honor the unified diversity of the global Church.

As it was the heart´s desire of our Lord Jesus in His prayer: “I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me, and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me (John 17:20-21)”.

Vision
To be a community of believers that worships God through Christ-centered, missionary, participative and interculturally representative music. Through this music, we help the church to worship in freedom, meditate on the word of God and grow spiritually and musically.

Key components of our worship

God centered: Everything we do should be for God. Thus, when choosing music, we ensure the lyrics and chords are fully focused on God and have a theological/Biblical foundation (2 Kings 17:38-39).

Missional: As an intercultural church, this is a strong component of our worship. Therefore, it is important for us to include songs from different cultural traditions and in different languages e.g. Dutch, English, African, Latin-American (Psalms 86:9-10).

Constructive: We want to use songs that not only bring the people of God to worship and awe, but also help us reflect on what God is telling us through His Word. Therefore, at least one or two of our songs should be related to the topic of the sermon (1 Samuel 15:22).

Participative: Although cultural representation is important, we also need to find common ground so that the whole congregation can understand and sing together (1 Corinthians 14:33). Therefore, we have two common languages: English and Dutch. Alongside these languages we always try to include other languages, such as Spanish, Swahili, Arabic and Ukrainian.

In order: Although within ICF-Noord we like to worship “free” and “relaxed”, enjoying the different cultural and denominational expressions of worship, we want to do everything to glorify God and build up His church (1 Corinthians 14:40).
